Indexing PDFs

Hello,

I am revising my thesis, and I am going through my Zotero-created footnotes. The PDFs are not indexed correctly and I cannot re-index the PDF's entry on Zotero. I tried to create a parent item so I could manually index but now I realize that this may create a new citation which will interfere with my subsequent citations of that same publication. Is there a way to manually alter the PDF entry itself? Thank you!

You need to always attach the PDFs to parent items, otherwise citations, searching, and most other Zotero features won’t work correctly. If you have inserted citations directly to PDFs, those won’t be formatted correctly.
  • Ok, thank you for clarifying. Is there a way to replace the PDF citations with a parent item without needing to delete and redo them?
  • I'm afraid you'll need to redo them
