Are you saying that, when you search for an item via the Word plugin, it appears in the search results in the red bar, but it doesn't appear in Zotero itself? When it appears in the red bar, does it appear in the "Cited" section?
That just means you've already cited the item in that document, so it's offering to use the existing item.
