How do you cite two or more references within the same parenthese?

How do you cite two or more references within the same parenthese ?
I know how to insert multiple citations in one spot but the citation appears like this 1-4 , I want one citation for the 4 references

For example

Functional group interconversion reactions are fundamental processes in synthetic chemistry. In this respect, the direct conversion of carboxylic acid esters to aldehydes [1]
