renaming rules not taken into account
I have modified the "renaming rules" in Zotfil preferences with the lign « {%w_}{%a_}{%y_}{%t} » : when I test it in the simulation box, I do get the correct renaming path with "Editor_author_date_title", but when I try to apply it in real, I do not get the mention of the Editor (only author_date_title)... Can someone help me please?

Note that this list is not fully up-to-date, there are more default wildcards. You can find them in the Config Editor in the preference
extensions.zotfile.wildcards.default
. Use the Beautify function at https://jsoncompare.com to make this more readable. But my issue wasn't really about the choice of w (actually I meant the Institution, w seems to be ok for it), but about the fact that it isn't applied when trying to rename, although it is applyied in the test
(I do get the correct name with "Editor_author_date_title" in the test, but when I try to apply it in real, I do not get the mention of the Editor (only author_date_title).)
Ex : "CGDD_Bouvart_2018_Thema Objectif zero artificialisation nette" = Institution_author_date_title
instead of only "Bouvart_2018_Thema Objectif zero artificialisation nette"
Note that the "%w" wildcard only stands for "institution" if the item type is "report". I created a test item of type report, with "ABCD" entered at the Institution field. Then I switched to your renaming scheme above: {%w_}{%a_}{%y_}{%t}. Right-clicking on a pdf attachment, I used "Manage Attachments" -> "Rename Attachments". For me, this creates a filename that starts with "ABCD_".
If this doesn't work for you, make sure that you have the latest versions of Zotero and Zotfile. You could also check if something is broken in the French locale. To test this, switch your Language settings to English.
Thanks a lot : it did work with your advice to use the command "Manage Attachments" -> "Rename Attachments", instead of directly "rename after the parent data"... and both in the English and in the French versions.
I think i'll be satisfied with this!
I had try to check every other options but I admit I got a little lost ; And still don't understand why the "update" outlook and the "Manage Attachments" -> "Rename Attachments" command worked, but not the "rename after the parent data" command, but actually being offered the choice of 2 renaming results coud be usefull, for cases when I want to rename only with the author and not the institution... so everything is as good as it could be... Have a good sunday, and take care !
"attachments skipped because they are top level items, snapshots or the file does not exist"
as a matter of fact i have my zotero storage folder on my icloud drive.
when i make annotations from my ipad, i can extract them from icloud.
so zotfile must be somehow ok with that place and also recognise it ...
maybe i have to move the items in order to get the renaming?
