How I can get my references back

Hello,

Recently I have formatted my laptop and I have assumed that all my references are stored in the library and online. Now, my library is empty and online too, but they appear in the word document as I have been updating the bibliography frequently.

Is there any way I can get all the references back,please?

    Zotero saves all data to your own computer by default. Your library would only be stored online if you had previously synced your account, which it doesn't look like you had.

    Do you have a backup of your computer from before you wiped it?

    No, but is there any way that can I add all the references in the word to zotero without doing it manually ?

    I'd you have word files with the citations in them you can extract them with this tool and import them into Zotero. Make sure you have sync on and tested, so something like this doesn't happen again. (Or regularly backup your data in another way)

    But note that the extracted citations won’t be linked to existing documents and will use metadata embedded in the document. When citing in existing documents, be sure to choose from the Cited section of the search results whenever possible rather than from the My Library section.

    If you need to make changes to the metadata for an item, you’ll need to delete any existing instances of it in the document and reinsert them from the My Library section.
