Zotero unresponsive in Word, Zotero ribbon blanked out
Hello everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I read through a bunch of the help threads, and followed the troubleshooting without any luck.
Zotero is enabled to show up in the ribbon, and I've customized the ribbon to display it. However, all I get is a clickable blank space, eg., "Review" "View" "Developer" "____" "New Tab". Once I click on the blank space it opens the Zotero tab and the buttons are unresponsive.
I've tried uninstalling Word and Zotero. I made sure the Zotero.dotm was in the right folder. I enabled Word in Zotero. I disabled BitDefender. Word and Zotero are both running in Administrator.
I'm not really sure what to do next. Reading through the forums here, usually one of these issues is the source of the problem.
Thanks for any help!
FYI, I'm using:
Word Microsoft Office 360 ProPlus Version 1908.
Zotero 5.0.84
Windows 10 OS
Acer Aspire V laptop

dstillmanIf you haven't yet, start by deleting Zotero.dotm and making sure the toolbar goes away completely in Word. Then reinstall it from the Cite pane of the Zotero preferences. This isn't recommend, for what it's worth.

adomasven@Kbs2066 Also note that if you have done extensive customization to your ribbon layout the instructions above might not work as something may have gone corrupt. As a last resort you could try moving your Normal.dotm file away temporarily for testing https://support.office.com/en-us/article/change-the-normal-template-normal-dotm-06de294b-d216-47f6-ab77-ccb5166f98ea
