How to download and install the Quicklook plugin?

I'm trying to download the Quicklook plugin on both my macbook and my windows computer, and have no idea what I'm doing. I guess I'm not as tech savvy as most of the other users.

ON WINDOWS:
I looked at the instructions for installing on Windows (https://github.com/mronkko/ZoteroQuickLook/blob/master/README.md#installing-on-windows) and I have no idea what I am supposed to do. I downloaded QuickLook from the Microsoft store and downloaded all three "assets" (not sure what that means) from the releases page (https://github.com/mronkko/ZoteroQuickLook/releases).

Then, I got stuck. When I open up the folder called "zoteroquicklook.zoteroplugin" (which I downloaded from the releases page), I see two files (one called "chrome" and one called "defaults" and a bunch of other documents (a gitignore file? an sh file? a manifest file? what are these??) What do I click to actually download the plugin??

When I look on the instruction page (the first link in my post) it says:

"After installing a QuickLook program, set ZoteroQuickLook to use this program:
Open the Config Editor in Zotero's Advanced preferences pane.
Search for extensions.zoteroquicklook.customviewcommand. Set the value for this config to the full path of the executable that you want to use to show the files."

I have no idea what this means. I can figure out how to open the Config Editor and search for extensions.zoteroquicklook.customviewcommand, but I have no idea what it means to "Set the value for this config to the full path of the executable that you want to use to show the files."

I'm using Zotero 5.0.80 on Windows 10.

ON MAC:
I can't even get as far as downloading the Quicklook plugin from the releases page. I immediately get a notification that "there is no application set to open the document "zoteroquicklook(1).zoteroplugin".

I'm using a Macbook Pro and running MacOS Catalina Version 10.15.1.

Please...help me... I really need Zotero to work for my dissertation :(
Many thanks!

    You are overthinking this.

    On both computers, download zoteroquicklook.zoteroplugin

Then, in Zotero, click Tools -> Add-ons. Drag the zoteroquicklook.zoteroplugin file into the window that pops up.

That is it for the Mac. The plugin uses macOS’s native QuickLook capability.

For Windows, you also have to install a QuickLook program. The plugin is set up to work with this program by default: https://github.com/QL-Win/QuickLook/

For ease of updating, I recommend installing it through the Windows Store: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9nv4bs3l1h4s?ocid=badge

That’s it. You don’t have to specify a custom view command.
