Word plugin not appearing in Zotero

OS: Windows 10 Pro
System: Dell OptiPlex 7060
Zotero: 5.0.77
Office version: Office 365, Office Professional Plus 2013

Problem: Word add-on does not appear in the add-ons tab.

Tried re-installing Zotero. That did not help.
Tried going to the Cite -> Word Processor plugin per the help page.
There is no option to "Reinstall Microsoft Word Add-in"

I followed the instructions to put the .dotm file in the word directory so the Zotero tab appears in Word.

What am I missing here?

That's quite bizarre — I don't recall our ever seeing that before. You should uninstall and reinstall Zotero and see if the plugins show up in the Extensions pane. Your data won't be affected.
  • I uninstalled Zotero, rebooted, and re-installed Zotero. Nothing changed, the Word processor add-ons still do not appear in the add-ons tab of Zotero. Is there a file with the Word proccessor add-ons that I can manually install them from?

There's a separate file that gets installed in Word, but word processor integration won't work at all without this plugin on the Zotero side.

Can you provide a Report ID?

Is this an institutional machine? Is there any unusual security software? Is Firefox installed? I actually wonder if there's a system-wide restriction on Firefox add-one that's affecting Zotero (which is based on Firefox) too.

This error occurred I tried to add a citation within Word.

This is an institutional machine. It uses Cylance Protect services. Firefox is installed. I am able to download and use add-ons in firefox.

    Thanks.
  • There is a year-old thread on Cylance Protect, which indeed does appear to block Zotero's Word integration:
