Information is blank when I download a pdf from web source
When I download a pdf from a web source into my Zotero library from either Safari or Firefox it won't save any information. i have to manually enter the title, author, etc information. Help!
If metadata exists online somewhere for the item you're trying to add, you can save the parent item some other way and drag the PDF attachment onto it.
But Zotero should also be able to retrieve metadata for most academic PDFs. Can you provide a Debug ID from Zotero for a save attempt where that doesn't happen?
I am using the save button... if you're talking about the save button as in the Zotero add-on???
Note that Zotero generally works best when you're using the Save to Zotero button not when looking at the PDF but when looking at the general item page (e.g. the abstract view for a journal article)
If I save this from the abstract page (above url) it won't save the pdf.
What does it say when you hover over the save button? Do you see a PDF line with a red X in it in the save popup?
If it does show a red X, we'd want a Debug ID from Zotero, not a Report ID, to debug this.
Do you have access to the PDF from that page in the browser? What does it say when you hover over the save button?
Is "Automatically attached associated PDFs and other files when saving items" enabled in the General pane of the Zotero preferences?
You should see that if you choose a different destination locally, such as My Library, the PDF will be saved. You'll also find that you can't even manually add a PDF to this group library currently.
