Google Docs not working with Firefox

I am having trouble adding zotero citations to a google doc. When I click add/edit citation, it looks like my desktop zotero launches but then I get a message that says:

"Zotero experienced a problem when updating your document"

I navigated to zotero connector preferences and under the general tab it says Zotero not available. Nothing happens when I click "update status".

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Have you tried in a different google doc? In other words, is this a document-specific issue or a general issue?
