Style Request: Political Science University of Mainz, Germany

Hello,

I saw several people requesting for an individual style, I hope I am right here to do so. I write my bachelor thesis at University of Mainz at the department of political science. Therefore, I would like to use an optimised style. At the moment I use the style "Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien - Wirtschaftspädagogik - (German - Austria)".

The department uses Harvard Style in German. This is the link to the citation guidlines, below I will give some examples. https://politik.uni-mainz.de/files/2019/04/Vorgaben-und-Empfehlungen-für-Hausarbeiten-18042019.pdf

A citation in the bibliography would look like that:

Nohlen, Dieter (2009): Wahlrecht und Parteiensystem: zur Theorie und Empirie der Wahlsysteme, 6. Aufl., Opladen u. a.: Budrich.

or like that:

Welzel, Christian (2000): Humanentwicklung und Demokratie: Welcher Index erfasst die „humane“ Dimension der Demokratie am besten?, in: Lauth, Hans-Joachim / Pickel, Gert / Welzel, Christian (Hrsg.): Demokratiemessung: Konzepte und Befunde im internationalen Vergleich, Wiesbaden: Westdeutscher Verlag, S. 132-162.

Online resources look like that:

Marshall, Monty G. / Cole, Benjamin R. (2009): Global Report 2009: Conflict, Governance, and State Fragility, http://www.systemicpeace.org/polity/polity4.htm (15. 03. 2010).

Short citation looks like that:

(Fuchs / Roller 2007: 205).

If there are more that 3 authors, short citation uses et al., while in the bibliography all authors have to be listed.

The citation style I use at the moment lists online resources separately. I would like to list all resources alphabetically in the bibliography. I would also like to now how to cite acts, regulations or directives. A EU-regulation looks like that in my bibliography:

I think, the European Parliament as the author should be at the beginning, am I wrong?

I hope, this was not too much... I would be happy for some help.

Thank you.
  • Hallo, if you use style Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien - Wirtschaftspädagogik - (German - Austria) then it is better to describe changec, which you need to achieve conformity with the style of your university.

    Hello LiborA,

    of course, that makes sense.

    1. In the bibliography, all resources should be ordered alphabetically, no matter if online- or offlineresources.

    2. If using short citation, all authors up to 3 should be listed, if more than 3 it should be the first author et al. (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien does that if there are more than 2 authros already)

    3. I do not know how to cite acts, regulations etc. in the right way, as the author is not listed in the bibliography. That may not be a problem of the style.

    4. I use LibreOffice with the zotero-addon. If there is a link, it is seperated with a hyphen if longer than one line. That is a problem if you want to copy-paste it, because it is not working anymore. How can I prevent setting a hyphen?

    Thank you
