Updating citations

The Zotero doesn't update when the footnotes are set to re-number every chapter or every page. However, it works well when the footnotes are continuous. But it is slow. I am working on a document that has more than 200 pages and 400 footnotes. Is there a way to make it work faster with chapter-wise footnotes?
