Error ID 1990157519

when I try inserting a citation through Vancouver superscript I get an error message "Zotero experienced an error updating your document". The other styles such as Vancouver do not show errors. My operating system is Windows 10 and I use MS Word 2016. Please help.

  • Are you getting the same error in a new empty document? If not, then run through these steps: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/debugging_broken_documents

    The main ones to consider are (1) delete the bibliography and re-insert it, and (2) the final step 8 to isolate a broken citation and replace it.

    (This likely doesn't have anything to do with a specific style—it would occur with changing to any style or with inserting a new citation without changing the style.)

    Another user reported that they fixed this by trying in a new windows account, which implies that it has something to do with your Word settings. You could try creating a new account at least temporarily and whether it works there.
  • I feel it is a problem with Word too. Unfortunately, this is a work laptop and I can't create a new Windows account. Maybe I can try getting Word back to factory settings and retry.
