zotero.desktop not working, icon disappears after closing

I have just got a new computer and installed Ubuntu 17.
I have downloaded zotero and ran ./set_launcher_icon.
However, no icon appeared.

I also cannot run ./zotero.desktop
(I think it is not being updated, this is the error:
./zotero.desktop: line 1: [Desktop: command not found
./zotero.desktop: line 3: -c: command not found)

I can however run ./zotero. The icon appears than in the dock, but it has no options to keep it there (just windows and quit).

    OK, my bad.
    I misunderstood.

    I simply linked zotero.desktop to /.local/share/applications and everything works.
