How do I import a file from PubMed into an exisiting folder instead of creating a new collection?

I've been trying to import a few citations directly into a folder I have already set up but when I import the file it goes either into a new collection or into the main library. Any suggestions? Should I just move the new collection into the existing folder? Thanks!
  • I think it goes to the collection selected in Zotero. So first selected the collection you want items to be stored in, then import. This is the way I work
  • For the specific case, you can just select all items in the collection, move them to the collection you want them in, then delete the newly created one.

Going forward, the easiest is to use the "Save to Zotero" button from Pubmed https://www.zotero.org/support/getting_stuff_into_your_library#via_your_web_browser , which will let you select a collection to save to.

For files, I believe Zotero will automatically create a new collection for files containing more than 15(?) items.

It's not based on the number of items. (I'm not sure if it ever was?) There's now just a option during import that lets you choose whether to create a new collection.

But as adamsmith says, for PubMed you'd want to save via the browser anyway.
