Bibliography won't appear (Mac)

Dear Zotero Team,

I have a document of about 110 pages with over 700 footnotes which is now complete. After trying to insert my bibliography (by using the Add/Edit Bibliography button in my word) it does not work unfortunately.

The following error occurs:
OSStatus error - 1728 @ setTextRaw:field.m:436

my report ID is: 525010408

I have already gone through the steps that you suggested in another forum post (debugging broken documents) as well as re-started, re-installed add ins.

Unfortunately none helped yet.

I would be very grateful if you could help me!

Best
Stefanie
  • How much time passes before the error appears? Have you tried step 8 of debugging instructions where you keep on cutting the document in halves? What version of Word are you on (such as 16.20)?
  • it depends, sometimes only 1 minute, sometimes between 4 to 5 minutes. I have gone through all of my footnotes and checked for errors or modifications and taken them out. However, no changes.

After just trying again, zotero was opened showing me "references in bibliography" listing all my cited bibliography. However, it does not put them into my word document for some reason...
  • What's the exact Word version?
  • If you get the bibliography editing prompt it means that you either already have the bibliography, or at least some buggy trace of it in the document. Checking over footnotes won't help, you actually have to use the method as described in the debugging broken documents instruction step 8. What's the version of Word that you are on (such as 16.20)?
  • Ok so I think I figured it out. I have used a self programmed citing style which didn't program the bibliography... I am so sorry I didn't realize that earlier! After fixing my footnotes and then changing the style I was able to create a bibliography which I can now copy paste into my original document.
