Zotero integration for the new Office 2019?

Hi Zotero team!

Office 2019 was just released recently and I got myself a copy of it on my new computer. I'm having trouble getting the Zotero add-ins to show up in Word 2019 and I'm wondering whether or not Zotero currently integrates with Office 2019?

  • As far as we know, Office 2019 should be identical to current Office 365 versions, which Zotero supports.

See https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting and let us know exactly what you're trying and what's happening.
  • Thank you, I've resolved the problem by installing the plugin manually.
  • I can confirm that the manual installation for Office 2019 works and I have changed the heading for this section accordingly https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_manual_installation#word_for_mac_2016-2019 .
  • @zuphilip did the automatic installation not work? What's the location of your startup directory?
  • No, the automatic installation did not work, and this was identical for two participants in my course today. A similar startup directory ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word worked. Well I didn't check the number exactly, but it ended with .Office and I think the "User Content" was in German something like "Benutzerinhalte" (?). I can try to get access to another Mac for testing if this would help. Just let me know.
  • ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word is the standard sandboxed Startup directory for Word starting 2016, so installs into those certainly work without issues (including localized versions). If Microsoft started putting the startup directory somewhere else, we need to find out where so we can install the plugin in the correct directory, so it would be of great help if you could check on a Mac where the automatic install didn't work.
