Error with styles and translators after update to zotero 5.0.57 in Windows 10

Hi everyone,

there is a problem with zotero which occurs after updating to version 5.0.57. I am pretty sure, because I zotero and different computers. It work stopped working on my laptop first, but surprisingly zotero worked fine again on my desktop computer until I updated it.

Upon starting zotero, a message is displayed saying that styles and translators cannot be found and that there may be a problem with the rights of the folder (which has worked fine for years know and which has not been changed).

I use a folder on an external hard drive which I connect to the machine I am using - either laptop or pc. All machines are Windows 10 systems with quite similar configurations. I am pretty sure the error is cause by updating the zotero version and I would like to know how I can deal with tis issue.

The recommended steps (resetting styles and translators or changing rights of the folder) can be executed but do not fix the problem. I#d appreciate hints how I can deal with the problem. Thanks in advance.

Oliver

I have sent a report. The report ID is 1848140029.

The upgrade triggers an update of styles and translators, but this would still be an issue on your computer(s) and/or drive — Zotero is getting a permission-denied error when trying to move a translator into place, so you'll need to debug that on your end. It's usually due to permissions or security software.
  • Thank you for your quick and helpful reply. I fixed the problem by re-installing zotero, using a differentlocal folder and importing my library there. I think using an external drive folder for zotero probably will continue to cause problems like this.
