Citing Birth Certificates

Hi all,

I need to do a paper for school that involves genealogy research. I was wanting to know how I need to enter birth certificate information into Zotero in order to use it for citing such resources. I've seen an article here that describes a method for citing such things:

Do I enter it as a 'document' in Zotero? Is there a plugin or something I can use?

Thanks!

I would use Report. Generally Report can be used for any sort of government document or informally published document. Don't use Document--it doesn't work well in most citation styles.
  • Curious to know which Zotero citation style would be recommended for such a genealogy citation. There are some discussions about the inability of Zotero to match genealogy styles. One of the longer but informative discussions is here https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/21137/request-for-style-genealogy
  • Chicago Manual of Style full note is your best bet for historical documents. It's also structurally close to Evidence Explained
