[Solved] Sort Items by Tag?

edited March 23, 2018
Hi all,

while it is awesome to be able to assign a red tag "read this article _before_ submitting your thesis", it would also be very helpful if one was able to sort items by tags. It would definitely be easier than scrolling through a list of thousands of articles and trying to spot seven of these little red tags... ;-)

Cheers,

  • you can filter by tag by clicking on it on the tag selector on the left -- that should do what you want, right?
  • Absolutely, thanks!

I've been trying to find it in the columns dialog in first place. An advanced search for the tag name would work as well, but the filter is a lot nicer.

  • advanced search for tag name exists, too, btw.
  • if you create your own tags, the sort by tags doesn't work
  • @riccucci: I'm not sure what you're saying here. Can you describe what you're trying to do and what's happening?

  • I would love to be able to apply a tag, and then sort by tag within the library columns. It does not appear to be possible at present. For example, if I apply a tag number 1 through 4 to prioritize the articles by how useful and relevant they are to the project I am working on, that would be fantastic. I do see a way to filter them as you discussed as a solution, but it doesn't seem to be possible to view the tags in columns, which would be a wonderful feature.
  • Ethereal Style plugin creates a tags column. It has so many features and sometimes feel buggy but you can disable all other features and use only tag column if you want. Note that this plugin also has a seperate #Tags function, which is different from Zotero's native tags.
