Linux - How to interconnect zotfile with okular

I use LinuxMinx Cinnamon 18.1 and Zotero Standalone 4.0.29.10.

I successfully installed zotfile and am able to generate Metadata for pdf. But I am not able to extract annontations. When I right click in the pdf viewer, there is no option to send to zotero.

I would like to use okular, but when I open a pdf in zotero there opens always the standard viewer xviewer. How to change?

thanks in advance for your help.
  • Firstly, you should make sure that okular is your default software to open PDFs. See here: https://askubuntu.com/a/204825/738478

Then, open Zotero and doublie-click on any of your references that contain a PDF. Now, the PDF should open in okular.

To start annotating, press F6 or, from the menu bar, select Tools -> Review. Once you are done, make sure to save the file and close it.

In Zotero, right-click the PDF behind the reference that you have annotated. Click "Manage Attachments", then "Extract Annotations".

The annotations you have made should now show up as a separate file under your reference. You can now make further edits, export, print, etc.
  • I don't see this "Manage Attachments" when right clicking the PDF
  • Do you have ZotFile installed?
  • Now it works, thank you!
  • It does not work in 5.0. There is no "Extract Annotations" button :(

@LucjanJanowski: You need ZotFile installed in Zotero.
