Film Citation Accuracy
Example MLA 8 Citation of Film (http://columbiacollege-ca.libguides.com/mla/videos):
The Usual Suspects. Directed by Bryan Singer. Performances by Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne, Chazz Palminteri, Stephen Baldwin, and Benicio Del Toro. Polygram, 1995.
Zotero Output:
Singer, Bryan. The Usual Suspects. Polygram, 1995.
Zotero doesn't appear to use the "Director" CSL name-variable even though the UI labels the field Director and the MLA style doesn't seem to have support for "Director" name-variable either.
I opened issues for it on CSL:
https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/issues/3675
https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/issues/157
Let me know if I'm missing something.

I added director to extra (to override Zotero's mapping for "Director" to CSL author)
In Extra I put "Director: Singer || Bryan"
and selected Open University - Harvard since it supports the CSL director name variable and Zotero does not appear to be adding the CSL variable, a separate issue.
Styles such as MLA which do not support the CSL director field.
The GitHub issue for the MLA style still seems applicable. Let me know if that's not the correct interpretation.
