ScienceDirect still no authors 5.0.56-beta.2+6d898e477

  • These all work for me. Still no luck on your end? Do you have access to the full text or not on the connection you're trying this? (shouldn't matter, but might change the interface)

I have access to full text pdf both on-campus and off when through remote access. None of these access methods provide the authors. With or without the proxy from off campus. There seems to be nothing in the page headers that provides much of the article metadata. (I admit, I don't recognize or understand the purpose of the vast majority of the header content -- many lines of Adobe MathJax.)

    Edit:

The RIS export seems to contain all metadata except language.

  • This sounds like the Embedded Metadata translator is used instead of the more specific ScienceDirect translator. EM translator will result in no authors data also for me. Which options do you see when you right click on the Zotero icon in your browser?
  • Hi Zuphilip, I use Chrome/Firefox and this problem happens with scicencedirect only. How to disable the Embedded metadata in in this case. When I right-click on the zotero icon and try the option "Save to Zotero -> Save to zotero (science direct)", there is pop-up "An error occurred while saving this item".
  • I'm confused -- didn't you say this was working now for you?
That Zotero goes back to Embedded Metadata when the original translator, ScienceDirect, fails is by design.

I tried to update everything and restart the system, it worked once or a few times before the problem happened again. Sorry for that.
  • On a page where that happens, in Firefox, could you
    1) right click right next to where it says Export and select "Inspect Element"
    2) You should briefly see a light blue bar all across the top of the page and a pane with HTML will open at the bottom with one row highlighted
    3) In that row, right click and select copy --> Inner HTML

Paste whatever that gives you to hastebin.com, press the page icon with the + sign at the top right and then post the URL here.
