Old versions?

Hi everyone, I'm just wondering if there's a place I can download an older version of Zotero and the plugin for Word? My university is still using Firefox 10, so it's no longer compatible, and god knows when they'll get around to updating the system.

I found an old version of Zotero at the Firefox plugins site, but I can't find an older version of the Word plugin. Can anyone help me out?
  • All old versions of both Zotero and the Word plugin follow the same pattern
e.g. the 3.0.11 version of the FF plugin is at
    http://download.zotero.org/extension/zotero-3.0.11.xpi

Same for the Word plugin. E.g. the WInword 3.1.1 plugin is at
    http://download.zotero.org/integration/Zotero-WinWord-Plugin-3.1.1.xpi
I don't know where the list of versions is, though.

All that said, you really need to get on your schools back about updating Firefox. Running outdated Firefox versions like FF 10 is a security risk both for you individually and for the internet at large - I'm not sure why your IT folks would be keen to end up as a giant bot-net with a T1 internet connection... Refusing to update browser software is the cyber-equivalent of not repairing lighting on campus. They're setting people up to get mugged.
Firefox has an extended support (ESR) release - currently FF 17 ESR - that's supported for longer intervals and intended especially for institutions who don't want to update as frequently as regular Firefox does. All current Zotero software runs on FF 17.
  • Thanks so much! You have very probably saved my thesis.

And yeah, the IT department is extremely inefficient. They only put 7 on the library computers sometime last year...
  • Is there any way to find out which version was 'current' on April 10, 2017 (or any other date for that matter)? We're trying to use the 'Export collection to Voyant' option, which has been documented to be broken. But so maybe if we could try it on the version that the developer used it on, we might still be able to make it work... BTW - the readme file on github suggests it was still a beta version...

Update - I did find the changelog - https://www.zotero.org/support/changelog. But that does not contain the beta versions...
  • If you want the beta version changelog, look at the commit history for the “master” branch on GitHub and look for the last commit as of that date.
  • Thanks. We just found out that the export does seem to work for some of us (although it sometimes takes first removing and then re-installing the plugin).
