Word Plug-In appears and is clickable but no citation appears

Hey,
the deadline for my paper is tomorrow at noon and zotero failed to update or insight citation and bibliography.
I have OS 10.13.4 Zotero 5.0 and the newest version of Firefox.

I have followed these recommendations https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#debugging_broken_documents but that wouldn't help

I am a bit of an idiot when it comes to computer problems but I would super grateful if anyone has an idea.

    What exactly happens when you press Add/Edit Citation?

    Does it work in a new document?

    What exact Word version?

    Thanks for your reply.
    Usually the red bar appeared, but not anymore. Only the Zotero manager box appeares but even if I select from there, it wouldn't appear in my text.

    My Word version is 2011 14.7.7.

    It also doesn't work in other docs

    Have you tried restarting Zotero and Word?

    It's possible the red bar is behind the main Zotero window.

    I don't know if this is the right answer, but just because you're on a tight deadline and you seem to have the same operating system and Word version I do, could this be the problem?

    It isn't clear why that's happening for me, but the good news is it's easy to fix: just click the button twice, and the Zotero insert bar should come up, at least it does for me. If this isn't your situation, sorry for the interruption here, but I thought I'd mention it because it might let you get your paper done!
