Editing citation style turabian (full note) for german use
Hello everyone,
I want to make a slight change to the turabian style 8th edition so it works for the german language. I want to change the Ibid to ebd. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. When I edit it and also change the title and id it still gives me an error...what I did is i just exchanged ebd for Ibid everywhere in the csl file. I'm not really good with css so I would appreciate help. Or does someone even know a turabian style file which includes different languages?

<locale xml:lang="de">
<terms>
<term name="ibid">ebd.</term>
</terms>
</locale>
(might not be 100% correct. you'll need to test. :) )
I have tried it but now it won't use ebd or ibid and just the part of the books name. Strange....

Uses "ibid" for items immediately following an identical citation, but the short title if there are any intervening citations to other items. Is that not the case for you?
thats correct, it uses ibid but I don't want it to use "ibid" but "ebd" because that's the german way of saying "ibid" ;-). Any suggestions?
I’ve tried it but as written it didn’t work.
It won’t show ebd instead it shows part of the book name.
You literally just need to switch the language settings of the style and then it will do "ebd." automatically already.

See bwiernik's explanation in this thread re subsequent vs ibid items. That is the reason why you don't see it. (https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/310650/#Comment_310650)
locale xml:lang="de"
I left the
term name="ibid" out of the script.
But now it's just doing the following

You'd go to gist.github.com, paste your entire style code into the window, click "create private gist" and then paste the URL here.
The easiest way to change a style to German is actually to change the default locale. That's currently in line 2
default-locale="en-US"
Change that to
default-locale="de-DE"
Ideally do this in an otherwise unchanged Turabian style, as it looks like you've introduced a number of errors in your modified version. That will automatically change all terminology to German: Hrsg. instead of ed., ebd. instead of ibid., etc.
Note, btw., that Turabian is very similar to Chicago Manual, and for Chicago Manual you can simply set the style to German in Zotero.
