  • What version of Zotero are you running?
  • 5.0.35-beta.18+ad53b3311
  • The Zotero beta has made major changes to the Word/LibreOffice integration that still has some bugs in it. If you want to help fix this bug, please submit a Debug Log ID (https://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output) for an operation in Word that produces the error.

Otherwise, downgrade to the stable version of Zotero from http://zotero.org/download and the error will go away.
  • I've seen this too, after merging the latest changes into Juris-M. The error occurs when the Zotero client is stopped and restarted, followed by an attempt to work with citations in the document. To get past the error, click on Document Preferences in the document, and just reselect your existing style. That will cause the citation data to reload, and things should work normally again.
  • I'm pretty sure that fix is in for this bug. If it hasn't healed in the latest Zotero beta, it will be fixed in the next.
  • @fbennett Thank you for your 2/10 post; this helped fix an error I was experiencing in the stable build today.
  • I had this problem already a multiple times - at first, unlinking the citations helped. But I only did this once (as I was migrating from Mendeley anyways) as I only got error messages, no matter what.
After that restart, I just got the error message three days later. Yet, this time, restarting word as well as Zotero and updating the style helped...
  • Thanks @fbennett - your tip helped me too! This is still happening in the stable build, and also in the same circumstance (when client is stopped and started) - as I am used to Firefox with Zotero, I'm still not yet quite in the habit of having to start up the client.
