Error when installing BibTeX citation style

Hello, in the recent update of the Zotero 5.0.44 I've noticed that bibTeX style (which I installed in previous version) is missing. So I tried to install it once again and during the installation process I got message which said something like "unexpected error while installing". So I've checked the debug output and I found out that the problem seems to be connected with "style is not iterable". I have also sent an error report to you which ID is 140605593 along with the debug output (sadly I lost the ID of debug report).

Can you please fix this issue?

Thank you for response and for your work on the Zotero.

Best regards,
Krshi
  • Are you refering to this: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:bibtex
or some other bibtex style? If so which?
  • Yes, I am referring to this style.
Sorry I forgot to mention that.
  • Works for me. Can you install other citation styles from zotero.org/styles?
  • I randomly selected a style (https://www.zotero.org/styles/3d-research) and the installation was successful without a problem.
  • odd -- and I take it you tried the bibtex one again and it still fails?

@dstillman, coud you check the error report ID above?

Yes. I tried that multiple times. Even with cls file that was donwloaded from the Zotero repo.

Is the report ID bad? I created a new one with ID 741650614.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I'm running on Linux Mint 18.3. Sorry

@krshi: How are you trying to install, exactly?
  • I am not sure if this error corresponds to the style installation.
I tried to install bibtex.cls file again with debug log opened and upon try there were appended these two lines
    "(3)(+0010054): Getting contents of /home/xxxx/Downloads/bibtex.csl

(1)(+0000032): TypeError: _styles is not iterable TypeError: _styles is not iterable Zotero.Styles</_install<@chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/style.js:394:1 From previous event: Zotero_Preferences.Cite.addStyle@chrome://zotero/content/preferences/preferences_cite.js:146:4 oncommand@chrome://zotero/content/preferences/preferences.xul:1:1"

I would restart Zotero, reset your styles from the Advanced → Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences, and try again. If that doesn't work, provide a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) for a Zotero startup through the error.
  • @dstillman Through "Create Bibliography from Item" > Manage Styles... > Get additional styles... > and then I wrote the bibtex into the searchbox and clicked the style.

This procedure worked for me the first time I installed the style.
  • @dstillman Thank you! I finally managed to install bibTeX style. Style reset helped to solve the issue.

Thank you both for the help!
