References can't be added

Hi! My computer has been reinstalled and I have now MacOS 10.13.4, Word 16.11 and Firefox 52.7.3. My word has the zotero plugin but still I can't add references to my document. When I click on "Add/Edit Citation" nothing happens. What can I do?
  • Do you have Zotero installed? What version?
  • Zotero 5.0.43

Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero?

    1. In the Help menu, go to Debug Output Logging and select Enable.
    2. Click Add/Edit Citation in Word and wait a few seconds
    3. Before doing anything else, return to Help → Debug Output Logging and click Submit Output, which will disable logging and submit the output to zotero.org. A window should pop up containing a Debug ID. Click “Copy to Clipboard” and paste the Debug ID into this forum thread.

How big is this document? Does it work in a new doc?
  • The document is completely new. It didn't work in an old one either.
  • The contact with Zotero seems to be established when I click on Add/Edit Citation but the red field to type in the reference does not appear...

If you restart Zotero does it work in a new document?
  • I mean, Zotero is 'activated' but no field in which to find my reference and insert it

    Oh, actually
[JavaScript Error: "Unix error 13 during operation remove on file /Users/[your_username]/Zotero/translators/ACL.js (Permission denied)" {file: "(unknown module)" line: 0}]
It seems that you have permission errors in the Zotero data directory, so Zotero is failing to properly initialize. You need to ensure that your user has the write permissions in the Zotero data directory.
  • Thank you! I'm sorry to ask but how do I check this up?
  • Thank you again @adomasven . This has been very useful. I think I will manage to check this up now!
