Islamic/Gregorian Years together at Year Section

edited April 3, 2018
Most of Arabic books contain two kinds of publication year (Islamic/Gregorian). So, when we add such a year (1431/2010) to date section, the result becomes 1431 or at best 1431 2010.
However, common usage is 1431/2010.
Is there any solution to get this?
  • Enter the date in the Extra field like this:
    issued: 1431/2020
  • Thank you for your response @bwiernik,
I did what you wrote. However, the result has appeared with long dash like 1431–2010
  • Sorry, I misremembered the syntax. Put the 1431/2016 in quotes:
    issued: "1431/2016"

Alternatively, to help preserve correct sorting (e.g., if items should be sorted by their Gregorian dates), you can enter the Gregorian date in the regular date field and the Islamic date in Extra like this:
    original-date: 1431
  • Thank you so much @bwiernik,
It works. However, it would be better if we can add it to the date section.
  • Yes, more robust date support is planned for a future Zotero version.
