Word 2016

Hey!

After using EndNote for a relatively long time, I installed Zotero today. I have two little problems with the Word plugin on my first day:

1- There are two ribbons (Zotero and Add-ins) added to the Word for Zotero:

How can I move the stuff from Add-ins to Zotero? (I want to have only one ribbon.)

2- The Zotero ribbon is not shown in Word Options > Customize Ribbon, so I cannot move it.

How can I move the Zotero ribbon to another position?
  • I believe moving the ribbon tabs is not possible. You probably have an older version of Word present (or at least some windows registry entries for it), which is why Zotero installed versions of the plugin that work in both older and newer version. You can remove the "Add-ins" tab by going to the Word startup folder and removing Zotero.dot from it (keep Zotero.dotm).
  • I have Microsoft Office 2016, and I've never installed an earlier version of it on my computer.

    I can remove the Add-ins ribbon either by removing Zotero.dot from the STARTUP folder of Word or by unchecking Add-ins in Word Options > Customize Ribbon, but is it enough to only have the "Zotero" (Zotero.dotm) ribbon? Does it include all the features of the "Add-ins" (Zotero.dot) tab? (I haven't tried everything yet!)

    The next question is why doesn't Zotero behave like other 3rd party Word plugins? (e.g. Grammarly) I mean, why doesn't it appear in the Word Options > Customize Ribbon > Main Tabs?
