Zotero 5.0 Word plugin

Report ID: 155625251

I downloaded Zotero 5.0 with chrome on a mac and I have Word 2011. The plugin is not working and I cannot figure out how to cite footnotes on Word. I have tried going to cite/word processor and clicking Install Microsoft Word Add-in but I get a message that says that the file Zotero.dot couldn't be opened because there is no such file.
  • Try reinstalling Zotero.
  • I've done that a couple of times now and it's still the same issue.
  • Open Finder and press Command-Shift-G. Paste the following
    /Applications/Zotero.app/Contents/Resources/extensions/zoteroMacWordIntegration@zotero.org/install
Press enter. Do you see Zotero.dot file in the directory?
  • Which version of Zotero exactly? And under tools --> Add-ons in Zotero, what version does it say the Word add-on is?
  • Zotero 5.0, if that's what you mean. In extensions, it says Zotero Word for Mac Integration 5.0.4.SA.5.0.33, and it is enabled
  • Do you see the Zotero toolbar in Word and when you click the buttons do you get Zotero windows, like style selection and citation window?
  • So when I clicked on the Zotero.dot file and opened it, I clicked "enable macros" and it opened a new word doc with the zotero toolbar at the top. But I cannot get the toolbar to show up for an already existing document I am working on.
  • And if you try to reinstall from Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors, you get the error?

Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero for the reinstall?

    1. In the Help menu, go to Debug Output Logging and select Enable.
    2. Go to Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors and click Reinstall for the Word plugin.
    3. Before doing anything else, return to Help → Debug Output Logging and click Submit Output, which will disable logging and submit the output to zotero.org. A window should pop up containing a Debug ID. Click “Copy to Clipboard” and paste the Debug ID into this forum thread.
