LibreOffice plugin not installing on mac

I'm having trouble getting the libreoffice plugin to install. It starts to install, but then gets stuck. I've tried using the wizard to install it and I've tried manually, but I end up having to force quit libreoffice, as nothing is happening. The plugin does seem to work in openoffice though, but I really need to use it libreoffice. Any chance you know what the problem is? (Zotero 5.0.30, Libreoffice 5.4, MacOS 10.13)

I thought that I was going to go insane after failing to get this to work, finally I was successful with this process, steps in this order.

Delete the Z-LO integration, LO, and JDK.
Restart the computer.
Install JDK.
Install LO. (Confirm that LO knows that Java is available.)
Quit LO.
Install the Zotero-LibreOffice integration. (manually)
Open LO.

I followed all your steps, but I'm still having the same problem. The LO integration file isn't installed with the application, I have to download it separately from the net. Could this be the problem?

Which file exactly and where are you downloading it from?

the Zotero_OpenOffice_Integration.oxt file. I found it on github

Follow this to install the JDK https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#libreoffice_5_on_macos_1011no_response_from_plugin

Afterwards remove the extension from LibreOffice via the Extension Manager and reinstall from Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Plugins
