Lost footnotes

Hi Everyone,

I suspect you get this all the time, but couldn't find an answer to it on here, so here goes: I've made the classic mistake of changing file format (.odt to .doc) mid text and have only just realised that all of my footnotes pre-change are no longer 'zotero' footnotes but just plain text. Is there any way of recovering them so to speak, or will I just have to update the old document?

Thanks!
  • I'm afraid if you don't have an old copy of the document in .odt left, these are indeed just plaintext and there's no way to automatically re-link them.
  • Thanks for the reply, I thought as much. I do have an old copy in .odt left: I guess I'll just have to copy the citations over from that manually?
  • What I'd do: (calling the old doc with linked citations DocumentA and the new, .doc one DocumentB)
    1. Convert DocumentB back to .odt
    2. Use compare document to merge changes from DocumentB into DocumentA
  • Wasn't familiar with compare document: will have a look. Thanks for the help!
