Suppress 'page' in citation

edited August 28, 2017
Hi All,

Is there a way to suppress the use of 'page' 'p.' 'pp.' etc.? When I cite a Convention, the closest option available is 'section', but that doesn't fit. The correct term would be 'article', but it's not available. I was hoping that I could suppress this somehow, and type 'article' when I type in the article details.

Any solutions welcome.
  • What style are you using? And can you give the exact citation that you are hoping to see?
  • Hey, I am using Chicago 16th (note).

I would like it to state: United Nations, Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, Article 1C(1)

Currently it states: United Nations, Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, sec. Article 1C(1)

    I cannot remove the 'sec.'.

Zotero doesn't currently have great support for treaties (see some old discussion here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/6778/international-treaties-and-un-documents). Better support for such items is planned. If you cite a lot of legal materials, you might consider using Juris-M, a fork of Zotero with expanded support for legal citations (http://juris-m.github.io).

In the mean time, you can get this type of citation by using "Hearing", "Statute", or "Bill" and entering the Article information in the Extra field like this:

Title: Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees
    Author/Contributor/Sponsor: United Nations
    Date/Date Enacted: 1951
    Extra: medium: Article 1C(1)

  • Thanks! I'll look into those options. Appreciate the help =)
