Zotero 4.0.29.22 not linking in with Word 2013

I'm just about to finish my dissertation and I can no longer cite or put in references. Whenever I try to do anything I just get Zotero Integration Error as below:

"[JavaScript Error: "couldn't open library \\smbhome.uscs.susx.ac.uk\pds24\WindowsSettings\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sy86d2t6.default\extensions\zoteroWinWordIntegration@zotero.org\resource\libzoteroWinWordIntegration.dll: error 5" {file: "file://///smbhome.uscs.susx.ac.uk/pds24/WindowsSettings/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/sy86d2t6.default/extensions/zoteroWinWordIntegration@zotero.org/components/zoteroWinWordIntegration.js" line: 52}]'[JavaScript Error: "couldn't open library \\smbhome.uscs.susx.ac.uk\pds24\WindowsSettings\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sy86d2t6.default\extensions\zoteroWinWordIntegration@zotero.org\resource\libzoteroWinWordIntegration.dll: error 5" {file: "file://///smbhome.uscs.susx.ac.uk/pds24/WindowsSettings/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/sy86d2t6.default/extensions/zoteroWinWordIntegration@zotero.org/components/zoteroWinWordIntegration.js" line: 52}]' when calling method: [zoteroIntegrationApplication::getDocument]"

I'm getting really stressed about this. I can't download the stand alone on the campus computers as I don't have admin rights.

Help please
  • If this is on campus computers, it's because Zotero is having trouble accessing the required files for the integration to work, most likely because they appear to be located on a network drive. You'll need to contact IT or install Zotero on a personal computer (you can transfer your library using Zotero syncing).
  • Thanks. So it's likely to do with the campus network. Does that mean that it may work again tomorrow. It worked yesterday.
    I have a personal computer at home. Will I still be able to integrate Zotero with word? I'm scared to go home, just in case it doesn't work. Should I upgrade to v5 when I get home or just leave it till Thursday and I have finished my dissertation?
    Thank you for your time
  • This will almost certainly work at home; it's unlikely to work on campus tomorrow. I'd hold off with updating Zotero until you've finished your dissertation.
  • If it worked on campus some time ago, it's worth trying on the machine it worked on before. Otherwise you should still inform IT. It is not likely you are the only one using Zotero for their work.
  • Ok. Thanks. I will do on Monday morning. All staff have gone home now. Thanks again
