Integration error (Open Office + Zotero Standalone)

Having done an "ODF to citations" scan to insert citations, I then open the document in OpenOffice and use the tool icon to set document preferences. I then get the following error message:

Zotero Integration Error:

Zotero experienced an error updating your document.

An error occurred communicating with Zotero:

I have Zotero LibreOffice Integration 5.0.6.SA.5.0.16. When I click on "preferences", "cite", "word processors", the LibreOffice add-in says "The LibreOffice add-in is currently installed," BUT it uninstalls every time I restart my computer.

I have Zotero Standalone 5.0.16 and OpenOffice 4.1.3. The document is originally from Scrivener.
  • Can you regularly cite in OpenOffice?
  • No. The citation box comes up, but when I press enter, I get the error message again.

(We no longer recommend using OpenOffice because it has been essentially abandoned since 2014 and while the plugin may work, we won't provide support in debugging problems. You should switch to a fresh version of LibreOffice)
  • Thanks. I will install it and try again.
