Integration problem 374025995

Windows 7 Home Premium , Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010

[JavaScript Error: "An unhandled exception occured. [setText:field.cpp]'An unhandled exception occured. [setText:field.cpp]' when calling method: [zoteroIntegrationField::setText]"
  • Does this occur in a fresh Word document? Which Zotero version?
  • Yes, in new ones and old ones, adding cites and editing. It is the last version, just downloaded and installed. Also with word plugin, which opened two zotero tools in Word. I tried with Word 2007 and it has the same problem.

You are running an outdated version of Firefox (48), which is neither the current stable release (53), nor the long-term support (45). Begin by updating it.
  • I cannot do it, because of my old pc cannot support another version of Firefox... maybe old version of Zotero? Any other suggestion? Thank you very much!
  • Could you expand on this? There is really no reason why a computer should be able to run Firefox 48 but not 53, and running outdated browser versions is unsafe.
We can't provide support for old Zotero versions, I'm afraid.
  • My processor does not support SSE2.

    You're referring to this?

I'm afraid we have the same requirements as Mozilla. For now you can use Zotero for Firefox with Firefox 45 ESR, which, unlike Firefox 48, is still receiving security updates for a while longer. You can also try Zotero Standalone 4.0, which includes the word processor plugins, with Zotero 4.0 for Firefox or one of the other browser extensions.

The upcoming Standalone-only Zotero 5.0 will require the new Zotero Connector for Firefox, which will require Firefox 52 or later. I'm not sure what the hardware requirements are for Chrome, but if you can run Chrome you could use the Chrome connector with Zotero 5.0.

We can't provide support for Firefox 48, though.

Out of curiosity, though, how old is this computer? Seems like it'd have to be fairly ancient to not support SSE2.
