Why is it taking such a long time to delete citations?

Hi there,

I'm trying to delete my library and start again, as I've changed some of my search terms, don't want my library clogged up with old articles. It seems to be taking a VERY long time to delete even one or two records. at this rate, with 1617 articles, I'm going to be here for the next few days :-)

I'm selecting all then using the trash icon. All I'm getting is the 'processing' wheel symbol. When I go into the trash folder after a few minutes there are only a couple of articles actually in there, which I can then permanently delete.

Am I doing something incorrectly? is there an easier way?

Many thanks
Carla
  • Could you submit debug output and post a Debug ID for an operation that takes a long time (say, deleting 5 entries)? We'll take a look.
  • It'd be good to get the debug, but there _is_ an easier way to clear out your library.
    1. Turn off autho sync in the preferences
    2. Close Zotero
    3. Move your Zotero data folder to a different location
    4. Restart Zotero. Your library will be empty
    5. Under Sync --> Reset, use "Restore to Server"

If you haven't used syncing, you won't need steps 1 and 5.
Note that this will completely erase everything you have in your library both locally and online, so only use that if that's really what you want to do.
