Zotero for Mac freezes when insert/edit citation

Zotero for Mac freezes when insert/edit citation into Word, it stop reacting and Word could not save the file until Zotero is force closed. However, the citation is valid after closing Zotero.

System: macOS v10.12.3
Zotero: v4.0.29.15
Word: 2016 v15.31 (170216)

    Does this happen in a new document? What version of Word is it?

    Word version is 2016 for Mac v15.31 (170216).
    I tried in a new document, it works well. I think the reason might be that the current document contains too much field code... Does it have a solution for this?

    Zotero can slow down in very long documents with many citations as you've noticed. Some things you can do to speed it up some:
    1. Delete the bibliography
    2. Switch to an author-date style that doesn't change formats from first to subsequent citations (e.g., Annual Reviews).
    3. Insert new citations into a blank document and then cut and paste them into your document.

    With all of these, at the end once you are done writing, switch back to your desired style and insert the bibliography. This may be slow, but it will only be waiting once.
