APA style is working all of a sudden !

Journal titles are supposed to be italicized and the doi: is not supposed to include the web link. I'm tried everything. Please assist.

The doi: problem has been happening for awhile, but the problem with the title of the journal just started a few days ago. Frustrated!

The DOI as a URL is the correct and preferred format for APA as of the 2012 update:
    http://blog.apastyle.org/apastyle/2014/07/how-to-use-the-new-doi-format-in-apa-style.html

For the italics, the style generally puts journal titles in italics. How are you generating the reference? What program are you inserting/pasting it into? What version of Zotero and Word/LO (if applicable) are you using? Are book titles italicized correctly for you?
  • I guess USC is behind the times then, cause I've got marked down for having the URL in the reference.

I use Chrome, and Word 2016. The Zotero version is 4.0.29.15. I feel like just a few weeks ago, Zotero was italicizing the journal title. Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall?

I click on "add ins" and then "add citation" and then I click the reference I want.

    The book titles are correct.

    Thanks.
  • Italics are almost certainly this: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/italics_in_word_bibliographies

Personally I'd complain about being marked down for the doi: issue. This is almost 5 years old and the doi: display of DOIs is being actively discouraged by all DOI-issuing agencies (even though it's still allowed, though not recommended, in APA style).

I tried to summarize the status quo at https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/doi_in_apa, but yes, like @adamsmith and @bwiernik already said, the "doi:" format is definitely outdated.
