Let me know if this is different in Zotero 5.0, but, similar to many other users, I often type a search query only to realize that I'm in some deep sub-collection and therefore nothing is found. If I now click on the "My Library" in the library pane to initiate a global search, rather annoyingly, the search box is cleared and the whole query has to be typed anew.

Since it seems the developers decided to keep current behaviour:
- would an option in preferences not to clear the box be still acceptable?
- I would write a macros myself (as proposed in a workaround), but none of the involved hot-keys to focus on the library pane or on the search box work for me in the App-tab mode on Ubuntu/Firefox.
