eliminating user and password id

I need to start from scratch and I am hampered by zotero remembering my username and password. I have also tried to register as my wife and her password is unrecognized. I want to start over as if I had never heard of zotero. Can you delete me (twright@usgs.gov) and my wife (e-joy@verizon.net) from your system. I will throw zotero in the trash, do a secure empty trash and restart after I get confirmation that I can register as an unrecognized user.

Thank you--Tom Wright
  • If you want to keep using Zotero, there is absolutely no scenario which would make it necessary for you to delete your account and trash Zotero. To start on a clean slate, all you need to do is to
    1. disable auto sync in the sync tab of the preferences
    2. leave any groups you may be a member of (if you really want to leave them, that is). Click on the groups name on https://www.zotero.org/groups/ and you'll have a "Leave Group" button on the right.
    3. move your Zotero data directory to any other location on your computer https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
    4. Restart Zotero -- you will see a completely empty Zotero library
    5. Use "Restore to server" from the "Reset" tab of Sync in the Zotero preferences

If you really want to delete your account you can do that at the bottom of
    https://www.zotero.org/settings/account
but as I believe I have mentioned before, starting from scratch is not, typically, a good solution to a problem.
  • Hi, I have a somewhat similar issue -
by mistake I created two accounts. The account I would like to delete shows up in the browser pane. So if I just delete that account and keep the other I should be okay?
