NY Times (online) Article Featuring Zotero

Zotero is prominently featured on Olivia Judson's Blog at the NY Times, currently linked to from the online frontpage: http://judson.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/12/16/defeating-bedlam/
she's quite positive on Zotero, although I think she vastly understates its capacity but this type of exposure can only be helpful

Another blog-entry that might be of some general interest. It's written by a Dutch physicist, and he touches upon the difficulties in collecting and distributing correct bibliographic data:

  • I'm not sure I agree with the way Lagendijk framed his argument. The only element of the problem he outlines that is solved by Zotero is the monopolism of T-R's citation database. No matter where you get your data, even if you enter it by hand, errors are going to slip in. Zotero's not going to solve his problem. You just have to be assiduous about checking your data thoroughly as it enters your library. I'm glad that he likes Zotero, but it's not some panacea for human error.
  • I'm not sure he is bringing up Zotero as a solution to reducing errors in collecting data, as he only discusses Endnote's interface (I therefore think the Endnote/Zotero discussion is a bit of a odd duck in the whole argument).
