In the midst of synchronizing zotero stopped working - none of my files are showing and synchronization is stuck in a loop.

I wouldn't expect this to happen unless you had an extremely large file in your library. Can you provide a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) for this?
Zotero auto syncs after restart and it does the same thing. I have plenty of disk space.

As a temporary workaround, you can disable full-text content syncing in the Sync pane of the Zotero preferences, but we'll want to figure out why this is happening so that you can leave that enabled.
