Sync Freezing (Debug ID D501881955)

Hello,

I use Zotero Standalone and it freezes for ~5 seconds after the green arrow turns for about the same amount of time. It seems like this started relatively recently, and I've added a lot of references with pdf attachments in the last week. I downloaded the most recent version this morning, to no avail. From reading previous posts, it seemed like the freezing during large file syncs is a problem that will be fixed in the next major release. I just wanted to check to make sure that's what I'm encountering.

I also noticed that there were some JavaScript errors warning about exceeding file storage quota. If this is actually the case, would you be able to point me to any documentation about how to manage my data so this isn't an issue?

    yeah, it sounds like the storage quota issue is actually what's causing the lag.

    The storage quota applies only to attached files, documentation is here:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/sync#file_syncing
    you have three options:
    1. Turn off file sync in the Zotero preferences under sync
    2. Pay for more Zotero file storage
    3. Use a third party WebDAV service with more free storage

    (There's technically a fourth option that involves Dropbox, Zotfile, and Relative Links to sync attachments, but it's a good bit more involved, so unless you're really set on using Dropbox, it's probably not for you).

    Thanks for getting back to me. I forgot to mention that this is a group library. Do I understand correctly that option 3 is out if I'm syncing files with a group library?

    If I disable file syncing to the group library, does that mean it will not sync links to files or URIs?

    correct, option 3 is out (as is 4).

    Zotero will still sync URIs with file sync disabled. Links to local files aren't possible in groups anyway.
