moved linked attachment base directory

Hi,

I setup zotero and zotfile with dropbox a 2 years ago so that pdfs were stored in a dropbox folder and were accessible from multiple computers using the linked attachment base directory

but I recently ran out of space in my dropbox folder and so moved all the stored pdfs to Google Drive and changed the base link directory accordingly.

Now although newly added pdf links are working fine on multiple computers all the old ones created previously come up with the error "The attached file could not be found..."

Is there a simple way to resolve this (without manually locating each individual pdf)?

thanks!
  • This should really work -- can you see where Zotero is trying to open the files? Just in the old location?

The Zutilo add-on has a function to bulk-change links, so you definitely won't have to do this one-by-one, but I'd suggest figuring out why this isn't working the way it's supposed to first.
  • thanks for your reply.

When I click locate it takes me to "C:\Users"

I use google chrome with the zotero add-on - is there an add on I can use instead of Zutilo which seems to be for firefox only?

    thanks
  • You can install Zutilo in standalone -- download the .xpi file, install in Standalone under Tools --> addons by clicking on the little tools icon.

Before you change filepaths with Zutilo, could you use it to copy the path to one of the files that don't open anymore and paste it here?
