Send entry and files to colleagues via email

Hi,

it would be great, if one could right-click on an entry in one's bibliography to get the option to send a reference for that entry and the attached files to a colleague via email. This would save a lot of time, because currently I have to copy the file and the reference separateley into an email. What I imnagine is that one's preferred client automatically opens up a new mail containing the reference in a selected style and the PDF of an article as attachment (Papers, for example, does have such an option).

Any chance of something like that finding its way into Zotero?

Thanks for a great app
Tobias
  • I second this request.

It would be a great feature, relieving us from multiple, frequent and tedious manipulations.

Again, "Any chance of something like that finding its way into Zotero?"

    Best,

  • +1

This feature could improve the collaboration with others outside Zotero.

  • Hi

I strongly agree with this comments. It would make Zotero even more effective.

Hope to see this improvement soon

    Nice regards

  • I completely agree with this feature. Please make it happen!
  • There are a few threads about this. Feature additions aren't made based on a number of votes, so there's no reason to add "me toos".

There is no standard, cross-OS/cross-mail agent method to add attachments, so this is less trivial than it may sound.

If someone were looking to write an extension that accomplished this, it may be easier/more fluid to send emails using the gmail api from within firefox or possibly the stand alone client. This won't make everyone happy, but there are examples of gmail firefox addins that use the gmail API, gmail is free/popular, and apps that calibre have set the precedent to make promote sharing via gmail over just allowing any SMTP server or mail user agent.
