Problem adding from Wiley InterScience

Hi,

Getting a Site Translator error from several Wiley InterScience pages, like this one:

http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/118603484/abstract?CRETRY=1&SRETRY=0

thanks!
  • behindtherabbit: I was able to successfully grab the article in question.

You might try disabling any firefox add-on's other than Zotero (Add-ons under the Tools menu) and try again. If that fixes the problem, please let us know which add-on was causing the problem.
  • behindtherabbit:

    1) Could you see whether "Accept third-party cookies" is checked in the Privacy tab of your Firefox preferences and, if it is disabled, whether enabling it fixes the problem? We put a workaround in Zotero 1.0.7 for a change/bug (depending on whom you ask) in Firefox 3 that causes an issue with that preference disabled, but it's possible the workaround didn't fix it in all cases.

    2) If that doesn't apply or doesn't work, could you provide debug output for the save attempt? If it's too long to paste here, you can send it to support@zot....org.

    Thanks.
  • When I try to download papers from Interscience-Wiley, I get a translation error:

    http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/109582192/abstract

I get this error as well, and as far as I can tell it has to do with RIS translator--it started with Wiley, but now I can't download from JStor either. When I save the RIS record on the desktop, and try to import it manually, I get the same error, even though no internet requests should be happening and RIS code looks fine. I reset translator and styles but that didn't help. I run dev xpi on Leopard w/ FF 3.

    Ticket created.
  • asplundj: I'm guessing you were using a dev build of Zotero, yes? Zotero pulls CSL localization from the Xbib project on SourceForge, which was down for a bit yesterday, likely just as we were committing a change to the 1.0 branch. This caused the 1.0 dev XPI to be generated without the CSL locale files.

I'll add a check to the build script to fail when this happens instead of generating a broken XPI.

Latest 1.0 dev build should work.

    Thank you

I now have another problem with InterScience though.

Instead of downloading and adding the pdf it opens the pdf.

    http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/120751373/abstract?CRETRY=1&SRETRY=0

Also it inserts html code for italics in the title. I thought we were supposed to use _italics_
  • I'm having the same problem, where it opens the PDF rather than attaching it. Any ideas?

Also, it can't grab multiple things at a time from, say, an issue's table of contents ( http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/118513402/home?CRETRY=1&SRETRY=0 ) ... thanks for any help!
  • I'm also having the problem where pdfs are opened instead of being attached to the entry. I've checked to ensure that "Automatically attach associated PDFs and other files when saving" is checked. I've disabled all extensions (except zotero) and still have this problem. I'm using ff 3.0.1 and zotero 1.0.7.
  • I am having the same problems with Wiley Interscience as of 15 September. I have gone through the disabling other extensions, checked the third party cookies and all to no avail. Any other suggestions?

    Jim
  • I was having problems with Wiley Science until I enabled "accept third party" cookies. I have a few addons running, too.
  • Having this issue, have accepted third party cookies etc. (accidentally started a new thread at http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/4468/ ). Any news on this? Resolved in 1.0.8/1.5?
  • any news on this? I'm not getting any of the errors reported, but I am still having the problem with PDFs: rather than being saved as Zotero attachments they trigger an "Open with ..." dialog. Ubuntu 8.10, FF 3.0.5, Zotero 1.0.9, updated translators ... No extensions other than "Ubuntu Firefox modifications" and Zotero ...

    thanks
    Ben Bolker
  • Do you still have the problem with the PDFs from wiley that "rather than being saved as Zotero attachments they trigger an "Open with ..." dialog" ? They say that it should work now with updated translator (http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/5226/) but I am not getting it working. I wonder what's your experience.
  • I'm also still having this problem (they just open instead of saving).
  • The problem with the "Open with" dialog appearing on Wiley has been fixed in the latest 1.0 branch and trunk builds. (For the curious, it has to do with Wiley rejecting the HEAD requests Zotero uses to determine the MIME type when deciding which saving method to use.)

The fix will be in 1.0.10 and the next 1.5 release. In the meantime, unless you want to use a dev XPI, it only seems to happen (for me, at least) if a PDF plugin isn't installed.
  • Yes, Yes, Yes! That works with the dev XPI indeed!

    Thanks a lot!
