Changing item type

This may be already diagnosed, but I couldn't find it in my search:
when I attempt to change an item's "type" (in my case from 'book' to 'journal article') Zotero seems to get hung up: the tab key won't take me between fields, each accessed field remains highlighted (with the 'box' open), and, most inconveniently, the changes made to the item only partially update: if I change the title it shows up in the list of items that way, but when I added an author it did not. Worse, when I closed zotero and opened it up again, all my changes to the item had gone away. I thought it was my copy of zotero which was corrupted, so I uninstalled then re-installed it--same thing. The problem seems to be limited to changing an item from one type to another--otherwise, I can make changes, no problem. There's an easy go-around--I can just make a new item instead of changing the old one. But I thought I'd just bring this 'bug' to your attention in any case.

    Send in an error report via Report Errors under the Actions (gear icon) menu after trying to change the type and post the Report ID here.

    I have encountered this same problem. It does not seem to affect all entries, but here is the report on a similarly failed attempt to change an item from type "Book" to type "Dictionary entry": 331913171

    The behaviour is the same as described by davidjhn.

    Thanks—fixed on the 1.0 branch. One way this could occur is if numeric values were added to an existing item, Firefox was restarted, and then the item type was changed. A workaround in 1.0.9 is to change manually added numeric values in the item to another value, change them back, and then change the item type before restarting FIrefox.
